Karmeliet Tripel is still brewed to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde.

Written 300 yrs ago, this recipe describes the use of 3 kinds of grain : wheat, oats and barley.

Tripel Karmeliet won the World Beer Award in 2008 for the "Worlds Best Ale", the greatest recognition a brewery can have !

In 1998 Kwak and Tripel Karmeliet won 2 Gold Medals at the World Beer Cup(USA).
In 2005 Tripel Karmeliet won the Gold Medal from the European Beer Star in Germany.
