Ruby, purple coloured abbey ale with a thick beige head. Delicate and sticky lacing left on the glass.
Georgeous and rich aromas upfront of candied fruits, figs and dates, with hints of alcohol.
Strong malt presence, followed by a full and rounded taste of dark fruits, raisins and molasses, without being too sweet. The alcohol warmth is pleasing and on par. Not overly carbonated, good drinkability and above all a smooth mouthfeel.
The finish creates the near-perfect balance between the sweetness of the mid-palate and the hints of green apple bitterness in the aftertaste.

A pleasure to enjoy another well crafted brew from Sint Bernardus, one of my favourite Flemish breweries.

Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all Sint Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background. Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d'Arc.
